Hi,

I have an old Scott Comp XC frame (Aluminium version) from 1998 sitting in my shed. It served me very well for years of XC racing and club riding. It's had a respray but it wasn't done well.

Im just wondering what to do with it. So far i'm thinking i could strip the paint off completely and polish it up. Then possible sell it or hang it on the garage wall...when we buy a new house that is.

This photo isnt of my bike but this is the same model:[img] [/img]

Any other ideas?

If you want to spend/waste time/money on it, respray or polish.

If you want to use it, singlespeed, commuter etc

If you want to get something back from it, £100 on gumtree

Thanks guys!

I cant really justify spending money on it while looking to move house. Stripping the paint and polishing it wont cost me anything other than time.

Do you think its worth doing that to sell it? Will it get more money?

Get a handlebar or seatpost or stanchion or something, and beat it to death at the next DH race you go to.

No disrespect, but the whole bike (if still built) would be lucky to be worth £100, the frame only probably only £20 or so...

The frames a 17.5 inch. i dont have any of the other parts anymore. Theres nothing wrong with the frame other than the paint. Thats why i thought about stripping it and polishing it.

If you want to sell it, it's got some provenance with the transfers and paint, polished, it's worth **** all.

I'd give it to the bike station.

It currently doesn't have any of the original paint. But the paint job is poorly done. So to sell it i would have to make it look better.

Keep it and hang it on the wall. Or, recycle it.. I'm sure bike station would be grateful for it.
