What's good to give you a superhero power boost when you are fading during a ride?

Jelly babies.

I tried malt loaf the other week and as much as I love it to munch on off the bike, this particular Soreen felt like chewing on leather compared to how easy the kids are to chew and get a hit from.

Sis double espresso gels. Washed down with some water. Take an hour before you need them.

50/50 mix of peanut M&Ms and salted peanuts.

Or Veloforte bars if I'm feeling flush.

I’d second what @TiRed says but it’s more like 30min before for me

As Tired said but I use them for emergencies only. Any gel is good really. A can of coke and a chocolate bar will get you out of a tight spot too if you can stop.

I eat honemade energy bars for general riding. Various seeds, blended, some apricots chopped, oats, bit of brown sugar and a bit of golden syrup, mixed with blended banana and baked for 30mins.

Keto.

I never flag on any ride due to hunger, even if I've eaten nothing that day.

My experience is you dont bonk because you're never "pre-bonk". It kinda works, but not in a "super soldier rocket fuel" kinda way, more like diesel.

Best bit is getting back from a ride and the legs not feeling destroyed. All those little efforts you skip add upto much less fatigue.

I was out today and did 50miles in the heat with just a protein shake for breakfast. Horribly dehydrated by the end but there was no chance of any mid ride heroics. Just ticking away.
