My brother in law wants to start MTB. He's not got much money so budget around £250. Not much is about second hand because of COVID. I've tried looking for him but I'm really struggling. I thought there would be a second hand voodoo or rockrider worth that but absolutely nothing.
Anyone any ideas?

I'd keep looking around for something second hand. You really won't get much for that money if buying new nowadays.

See what the cheapest decent bike halfords have and see what you can do to bring the price down. Research quidco cashback, does your employer offer a perks system with reduced gift cards, ring around the stores for shop soiled?

I think you're right about second hand. There isn't much about, its overpriced, and people can't be bothered to post so unless it's nearby or worth getting shiply to collect it's untouchable.

Be quick at £300 this won't be in stock for long

Nor will this at £325

https://www.halfords.com/bikes/mountain-bikes/carrera-vengeance-mens-mountain-bike-2020---yellow---xs-s-m-l-xl-frames-427734.html

Prob best in budget and by some margin compared to other brand offerings.
