Got a Bkool trainer a couple of weeks ago but my old laptop wont run the 3D graphics part of the simulator. I can stream the HD videos ok and ride them but cant do any of the 3D graphics races.
theres a video here of the type of graphics it has during riding (click play on the demo video)

The minimum specs they reccommend are:
2Mb Internet connection
PC: Windows Vista SP2 or latest, Dual Core Processor, 2GB RAM, 2GB HD.
iOS: iPad 2 or latest. It requires an ANT+ Wahoo key (not included with the trainer).
Mac: OSX 10.8
Android: Android 4.2, 1GB RAM, Dual Core. The tablet must support OTG. It requires an OTG cable (not included with the trainer).
USB ANT+ stick (included with the trainer).
Need to get cheapest laptop / tablet i can to run it! Am thinking of a Hudl 2 at the moment and using the app simulator but wondering how basic a laptop i can use instead.
For reference, my old laptop which wont work (9ys old ) is:
Intel Core 2 T5500 1.6GHz
1.49 GB RAM
Not sure if the processor in mine has any in built graphics which might be the problem, and also slightly down on RAM.
According to the specs they advise though i should be bale to get a fairly basic current model laptop, as most now have 2GB RAM and and dual core processors.
Anyway any reccommendations?
Or if you have a Bkool trainer what are you using?
Thanks
Does it not mention a video card requirement in the spec?
Anything which meets the minimum spec - if you're on a budget then get a s/h Lenovo on ebay (or from a reseller if you're not confident doing that). The one I'm typing on cost me £100 and I'm sure would work - i3 processor with 4GB memory. Integrated Intel HD3000 graphics but the performance of that is surprisingly good compared to older integrated graphics - it works decently with anything but modern games which hammer the graphics card.
Of course there are other brands which work fine, Lenovo is just my preference. Anything less than 5 years old will probably work.
The min spec is very basic, Dual Core / Vista is last decade era stuff. Any current Laptop should be higher spec than the specs quoted.
I'm not sure what scope that software has to be optimised for hardware, but as with anything graphic related something with even a basic inbuilt GPU will be better than one that only relies on the Processors on board graphics.
Hudl 2 will be more than enough to run it too.

Maybe, but as I mention above, my onboard graphics performance is pretty decent - seems at least as good as my older laptop which had a dedicated GPU. Will certainly run stuff with those sort of specs I'd expect. He won't need a dedicated GPU. Modern integrated graphics performance seems to have improved a lot.
