Our son is almost out of his 24" Islabike MTB and the next one he wants to build with me. Now I'm thinking alloy for weight and 14" approx frame. What are your kids riding? And any deals you've seen on frames? Ta in advance.

I got a Kona Caldera for my mum last year on Gumtree. She's 5' in her heels.

Small sized orange crush got him from 11 to 13, maybe a little big but short in the top tube. We did the Islabike Creig 26 after the Beinn 24 - this worked well as I had struggled to find a really small frame. Worth looking at a Ladies extra small frame as well.

I bought our lad a 14" kona Firemountain. it was from ebay and fairly cheap basic spec. I sold off what I didnt want and upgraded what I thought it needed.
The 14" frame is a good light ally frame with decent reach top tube length for 10yo.

We got the Islabike 26" and put 80mm front forks on it, works well and is still very light.
