Looking at a Zesty am 5ft10 and slightly long bodied/short legged - only slightly!!
Anyway the Lapierre sizing guide seems to indicate that you need a large (50cm) above 5ft9. I've been unable to get hold of a 50cm Zesty to test ride but sitting on a 50cm bike, it seems about right in the shop.
My question to you Zesty owners of a similar size is what do you think... and does the large feel like a bit of a tank on tight trails? I have not measured the wheelbase, but it must be quite long. Otherwise, I'll go for an 18.5" Fuel EX9.
You need to try a medium as well. We have a lot of guys your size preferring them.
Dunny delay though - get to your LBS asap as they are selling out rather swiftly...
I'm 5'11" and ride a medium, with a 50mm stem
doesn't ever feel too small to me, and wouldn't want anything larger
OK - thanks guys... dasnut, you must have a pretty upright riding position with that setup. Don't you find that with the 50mm stem, the steering goes a bit wiggly when climbing up v. steep hills?
Sounds like I really need to ride a medium Zesty.
46cm (medium). The Zesty and Spicys come up particularly big, i'm 5ft 8in and my mate's 46cm Spicy feels MASSIVE
I ride a 46cm Spicy and I am 5ft 10inch.
65mm Stem FYI.
yes the climbing is bobbins, but thats the price I pay for good downhill performance. My bike is set firmly to "fun"
I am sure it would help if I wound my forks in (u-turn pikes), but I never remember so I don't bother.
5'11" and have a medium 09 Zesty, they do come up large. I also have the seat as far forward as it will go and an in-line seatpost. Climbing is fine though...
I'm 5' 9" on a Medium Zesty 514. 70mm stem is spot on reach wise. I reckon a 50mm stem is great for the Alps but too short for up/down riding!
Good luck finding one though. I found mine in Revolution Bikes (BAngor) whilst on holidy in North Wales. Supply has pretty much dried up as i understand it.
