Ideally, you'll need a 6 sided 32mm that's been machined back so it doesn't damage the shallow/thin-walled nut. Fortunately, Simon at Locotuning has the very thing for £7.99. You can use an ordinary one, but for the cost of replacing a damaged top cap if it slips or distorts it, it's probably worth paying the extra.

26mm IIRC

not really a standard size in metric, may be something in AF

I use a box spanner as it's not got a machined shoulder

32 sounds right.

Just tried a ground down 26mm and it's nowhere near!

Socket shop it is!

Cheers

as coatesy says the trick to not screwing up the top cap is a six sided socket.

Get a 32mm box spanner, couple of pounds off eBay.

Got 3 sockets from the local socket shop to cover 32's, 36,s and my Pikes. All six sided and my mate is going to grind them down for me 🙂

Get him to do a deep 10 and machine the outside down a bit too for the lower nuts on the fox forks 😉
