do you use spd or flats shoes.
and which ones do you use.
Shimano MT42's with spd's here.
spd with time Lakes mz 40 ? expensive winter ones, Shimane ones- general use and some nike ones [ free gift those ones] for road use
Both.
Shimano MP66 on time atac
Five Ten freerider and Shimano AM41 on flats
Shimano MT161 and Lake MX140 boots SPD
Mountainbike - shimano AM40 with weligo mg1 pedals
Commuter - some old cannondale mtb spd's trail shoes with cb candy pedals
Flats
Shoes;
5.10 Impacts for 'proper' riding
5.10 Basics for when absolute grip isn't so important and I want to look less like I've borrowed Forest Gump's shoes (see above).
spds . A variety of shoes - a pair of shimanao ones and some lidl ones and some aldi ones depending
Flats on the commuter used with whatever shoes I am wearing
Scott comp shoes, oh so comfortable. CB eggbeaters, soon to be Candy Ti.
Flats: wellgo V8 copies and shimano AM40
Spd's - Sidi Bullet 2.
Did you not get on with those Dominators ton?
deluded...............no mate, not at all.
feels like i have nothing on my feet, and the heel is far too narrow and i keep going over on my ankle.
i wear 5/10 impacts on the mtb which are great, but i am looking for some comfy, wide normal trainer type spd shoe, that i can walk about in too.
Shimano DX flats and 5.10's.
Ton, you might get away with Gaerne Lapo's or Vega's, they've got a dead grippy Vibram sole but aren't the stiffest of shoes so good for walking. I love mine.
MT90s & MO86 on Times, ATAC carbon & Z Control.
ton, issue 61 of Singletrack (if you've got it hanging around somewhere) reviewed a number of Trail Shoes.
Recommended were - dhb T1 (Wiggle), Lake MX101 (said in the review they were supportive), Mavic Cruize (mentioned they were insanely comfortable).
They look like they might suit your needs.
Flats all the way on my mountain bikes, clipped in on the road bike.
Shimano AM40's or 5.10 freeriders on Superstar Nano pedals on both mtb's. Shimano's comfier and less clumsy, 5.10's better grip but pretty poor quality for the price tag. AM41's on my list for winter as they look slightly more bad weather proof than my AM40's.
flats.
at the moment, DMR V8 pedals with vans rowley XL2 shoes but soon to be replaced by either DMR vaults or wellgo MG1s and etnies kingpins.
maybe some 5.10s later if i can actually get it comfirmed whether or not they make any non-leather ones...
on the mtb time atacs and either, sidi dominators, northwave artics or occasionally a set of Carnacs.
on the road bike time rxs and sidi genius 5.5's
Specialized BG Sports (cant afford the Carbon anymore) & 5.10 Minaars on CB Mallets
Today flats (Element Townsend) tomorrow SPD's (DX's on crank bros candy)
both
I use spd's, and wear cheap DHB shoes from Wiggle - have been using them regularly for the past 18 months and they've been through the washing machine twice and they're still pretty much pristine. Rubbish in the wet though, huge vents that let every bit of water in.
Been using Spesh BG comps for a while now. Thinking of getting some of for trips these for trips to the bar though.
not worn my SPD's since I got flats and 5-10's.
Never even looked back to be honest
Mainly ride SPDs on DH and XC bike and use 5.10 Minaars / Shimano AM50s depending on what i'm riding and weather conditions..
have been known to use the minaars on flat pedals and they do work rather well haha
pair of 8 quid gutties out of lidl on dmr v8s! 😆
5.10 freerider-flats
5.10 hellcat-spd's but work ok on flats too, cleat is very recessed so don't make you walk like a roadie!
Sidi Eagles on Time Atac.
Some 10 yr old Decathlon on SPD.
Vans.....£15 out of TK Max. Loads grip.
Flats
any pair of vans/DC's etc.....way better than being clipped in
shimano shoes, i find them very narrow...not really a fan.
When i do use clips I have a 12 year old pair of spesh sonoma's that are really comfy
Sidi eagle srs and keen springwater.
Got 2 pairs of Shimano AM40's for flats (MG1 and Twenty6 Prerunner pedals)
Pair of Specialized BG Sports spd'd that I use with CB Candy 2ti pedals.
Shimano AM50 shoes with Time Freeride or Alium pedals.
Flats, and Shimano AM40s, MP90s (horrible looking but cheap), and an ancient scabby pair of Vans. Did have a set of 5 10s but they melted in the rain.
Not sure i'll be able to bring myself to buy AM41s when I need a new set, what were they thinking? Actually even worse in the flesh.
Them AM41's look special
Always been a clipped man using time free ride pedals and Oakley shoes until recently. Now its Five ten impact lows and Kona wah wah pedals. Loving the flats. Still a place for clips on epics but Five ten shoes have been a revelation.
The only time I'd use flats is if I was going dirt jumping or BMXing.
For every other bike I use SPD's and have a number of pairs of Diadora shoes which really are superb value for money, so comfy.
The exception being my track bike which uses Shimano SL road pedals and some crazy assed Italian shoes which look flash, cost me a fortune and really don't cut the mustard. Lucky I never use them for more than a couple of hours at a time.
double post
Yep, the AM41's sure are minging, got a friend at work with NHS shoes to correct his walking that look more fashionable!
Comfy though......
