Hey folks
I want a new shock for my (of the increasingly endangered species) AM bike. It's a 160 mm travel, horst-link driven Norco Fluid LT.
I need something with a lockout and adjustable compression damping to take the toil out of the climbs. I can't really say too much about the performance characteristics I need as the incumbent Monarch 2.1 is a bit basic, lacks adjustable compression damping and any small bump compliance.
I got in touch with Norco wo gave me the dimensions (200x57) and recommended a medium tune as starting points.
Up front I have a Revelation RLT Ti's which aren't perfect either but there aren't so many straight steerer tube, travel adjust, 20 mm axle forks around any more.
Anyone got any recommendations, pointers or advice? The newer Monarch RC3 shocks seem to be pretty decent and cheaper than Fox too. I'd be tempted to try a Monarch Plus but haven't seen them yet.
I didn't used to like the fox shocks but their current CTD air cans are really good and offer a good balance of performance over efficiency. How much cheaper is a Monarch Plus?
I'd go direct to Loco/TF and get something tuned to the bike - and take some advice from them
Ebay for a second hand rp23, there were some very cheep the other month.
Cant fault mine on the HL 5spot
