It's getting to that time of year again and I've got a new garage to populate with indoor toys 😎
I liked my old Antares rollers which did everything I really needed of them although occasionally developed annoying noises which took a bit of 'destructive' investigation to eradicate, which is why my buddy inherited my old set covered in drill holes and Dremell scars 😁
Plus side of another set of Antares is that they always come up for sale second hand and relatively cheap, so I could put the remaining funds towards a cheap LH crank powermeter.
BUUUUT my eye keeps getting drawn either to a set of Galaxias which would hopefully let me get out of the saddle occasionally with less risk of going bucking bronco.
OR the Elite Arion Mags, I like the idea of adjustable resistance so that I don't need to hit 130RPM just to get a Sweetspot workout... I just wasn't sure if 'only' 3 resistance settings meant I might end up in between settings and having do to some weird cadence for the workout I wanted.
Anything else worth considering?
bumping just in case (also willing to accept it's just a boring topic 😎)
I've a set of hardly used Elite Arion Parabolic Rollers lying gathering dust in a Paisley garage if they are of any interest?
I don't know anything about rollers so this might be completely irrelevant, but my Google feed earlier showed a DCRainmaker video about some new Wahoo smart rollers.
Dunno if they would be of interest?

Kreitler 2.5" medium with a flywheel.
The smallest Kreitlers have enough resistance to actually do a threshold session below 200rpm - I'd go with those!
Kreitlers every time, no question.
Get the nice compact frame too. Much nicer than the original. Mine has the plastic end caps.
I've got some Elite smart rollers, my first set of rollers but work really well for zwift etc. The power readings are a bit out compared to my other power meters but for the purposes of zwift are great.
Without the resistance unit you'd need a bike with a big gear or legs that can spin fast, to do decent efforts.
If you're just looking for rollers - almost anything will do, but if you want resistance, then Elite Q-motion are quite nice. If you're looking for smart rollers, Elite's Nero are very good and do a great job of simulating real riding. As mentioned above, the power reading is a bit off, but so long as you know the delta\aren't bothered\just gauging against yourself, it doesn't matter.
The advantage of the Nero over any mag resistance rollers is that because they have a flywheel, you can actually stop pedalling and freewheel for a while, whereas mag resistance rollers have a habit of stopping the bike dead inside of a second and you almost fall off.

Yeah, I could just about achieve a sweetspot workout on my Antares in 50/11, would be nice (I think) to also try for 8-10 minute threshold efforts. Anything harder and I think I'd just stick it on the turbo!
Not sure I could afford the smart rollers, if I was spending that much money I think I'd rather buy a power meter for the bike first and e.g. some Quick Motions.
Krietlers are pretty desirable but am not sure I'd benefit from the extra spend, although I love the headwind fan idea.
I think Arion Mags are in the lead so far for the blend of price and features.
