I have been allowed by my wife to buy a new bike!I am looking at the Merida 1600 1000 and the Vitus Sommett 2 at the moment as I want something with a reasonable amount of travel for enduros/alpine type riding (tip for anyone with a tall wife "next time we go to france darling we won't have to hire you a heavy and expensive downhill bike we,ll just let some air out my enduro bike and you can ride that". I am however not made of money and so am looking at £2000 ish. Has anyone got any other suggestions for bikes?
p.s not seccond hand as it's been ages since iv'e had a NEW bike and so am a little giddy.

You said not second hand but I have got a one ride old Zesty 314 at a very second hand price. Perfect light weight enduro tool.

Never thought about Canyons but they are going on the list! I wonder what the warranty is on them as it is lifetime on the Merida.
