As i've got a commute to work on the road i need a tyre thats hard compound that likes off camber loose trails yet wont die in 1 month of riding on the road.

i currently use bonty big earl wets and they are great but the rear wears super quick. ideally a hard compound version of this would be great but they dont exist.

i've tried thin wall xc type tyres for some reason i always end up walking home with massive cuts in the sidewalls.

maxxis dual ply's weigh a ton.

so what alternatives do i have or should i just man up and run a heavy tyre?

i've had a bit of a search but nothing strikes me as suitable...

cheers

You should either MTFU and run heavy tyres, or get a more appropriate bike for commuting on the road!
