Anyone got any good recommendations?

I used to sell a fair few of the Saris Bones & never had any problems.
Bit of a faff to set up, but nice & solid once you've sorted it, all recycled too.

i wouldnt have a strap mounted one
if they will fit your car go for one of the Thule Clip on range or this -
