So after 4 years of sterling service I got home after yesterdays commute to find that my Moon Shield rear light had gone AWOL. Looking at replacing like for like it seems that not many shops have the original Moon Shield at a reasonable price. Lots of them have the Moon Shield X but reading reviews it's overly complicated and the power button has a habit of going AWOL.

So any suggestions for a replacement, other than waiting for the next Aldi bike kit sale? Already have an Aldi copy of the Moon Nebula that I run on constant so looking for something flashy and bright to augment this.

Ta,

Jeff

One of the Exposure offerings? I must admit when my Moon died, i replaced with the same, found it to be a really good light and liked the rubber fitting that made it is easy to attach on both seat post and down on the stays if i had bikepacking bags on.

I quite like my Moon Nebula so far. It’s outrageously bright on the solid light setting, has flashy settings as well and one in between setting. It has a constant  on light but flashes brighter too. Run it through the last winter so far and it’s been great - best back light I’ve had.

Knog mob kid grid. Similar sort of thing to the moon but better sealed as you don't need to open anything to charge it. A bit brighter than the moon shield too.

If anyone is interested I got an Exosure TraceR. Halfords had them cheap and with BC discount cost me £31. So far it looks realy good.

+1 for the Exposure TraceR, which replaced a Moon Shield that eventually died from water ingress.

I’ve got 2 different versions of the ‘Bikemate’ rear lights from ALDi (the long rectangular ones & the fatter one with painted ends) and they have both recently failed. Unfortunately last time ALDI did their cycle kit they didn’t have any of the lights online or in store - otherwise I would have bought a ‘spare’ set for future use. They were brilliant lights & were used about 3 times a week for 3-4 hour rides. Left flashing on low it has lasted over 15hrs.

As they are copies of the Nebula Moon light I’ve just searched for one of those but they seem to be out of stock in all the main on-line retailers.

if anyone has a spare ALDI rear light I would be interested.

Have got the Exposure Trace & TraceR pack from Evans recently, as wanted to get something that would do for road use and emergency off road use. Really happy so far, the pack was about £60 IIRC, and can recommend it. I guess as above you could get the TraceR itself, but feel subjectively that get more noticed when the front is on as well...

I did contemplate other brands, but advice was to look at the Exposure ones, been happy so far.
