Yep, no contest. Two years on mine, didn't even bother taking it off this year. I just wish they made a road bike version (in fact I'm thinking of seeing if I can hack one down to fit a road bike with caliper brakes).

I have thought this for my gravel bike.

Not as good as a proper mudguard but great considering its resistance to being rattled regularly and can come off easily when so desired.

Ok, so what is the best mudguard set-up for gravel bikes?

Mudhugger +5.... just did the Trans Cambrian over the foulest 3 days I've ever ridden in and that was the one thing that kept me able to keep riding without destroying most of my riding kit in around an hour! About 6 of the 14 of us had them, the rest were either riding with other guards or no guards - we were by far and away the best protected

When I had a hardtail I would run a classic crud race guard:

null

Sadly they don't make them anymore, with zip tie mounts I reckon they would fit FS bikes too.

I also had the seatpost mounted crud ones, make sure you get it close to the tyre.

Mudhugger front and rear now with the additional extenders on my FS bike.

On my "gravel" bike I have SKS Edge aluminium guards, full coverage.

I have no idea why more people don't use them, aside from fashion.

Mudhugger.
Just make sure you fit the supplied heli-tape or it'll make a mess of your paint PDQ.

That rear guard looks pretty damn nice compared with a Mudhugger. I might be tempted to bodge something together that resembles that.

Mudhugger.
Just make sure your bike doesn't catch you looking at it with disgust.

FTFY.
