By that I mean protection for enduro races / all day pedalling and not too hot and bulky.

Think all day riding in summer rather that a wet dh race (where my snowboard shorts are fine)

It's that part of your anatomy that padded shorts protect.

They're not cheap, but i've tried a few (Fox, Evoc, Troy Lee) and these are definitely the best. The offer good protection, whilst also being comfortable and well-made.

Troy Lee 7605

Under the baggies I take it? Scott Team are minimally padded, comfy and not too gooch sweat enducing.
I've always bought them from Startcycles, so imagine my surprise when I went there to check if they still had them and spied these beauties... £15! 😀

Teams only in XXL, I'm afraid. Maybe somewhere else stocks em.
