I need some Avid Elixir brake pads before I hit the road next week and all flavours of Superstar pads are out of stock.

This led me to CRC where there's reductions on other brands like Clarks, Goodridge, Nukeproof etc. None of which I have ever used. Obviously the prices are still way higher than Superstar and I don't want to buy any duds.

Does anyone have any experience of the available models?

Just ordered some from uber bike components. Same price as Superstar. The last and only time I used disco pads was when none of them fitted in the calipers!

Fibrax ones seem very good. The only thing I've found close to shimano's

The 2 pairs of Fibrax sintered I've got for sale for £20 maybe?

Thanks for the 'uber' heads up. I've never heard of them. Got to be worth a punt at those prices.

4 pairs for £17.99.

The Nukeproof black ones are good, only ones of theirs I've tried.

Uber are I think the same pads as Superstar- mine seemed identical anyway.

Had some Clark's ones a few months back. They wouldn't fit so took em back to the LBS who ended up sending the whole batch back to the distributor.

Try discobrakes.com or Uberbike.

Someone posted a decent 3 for 2 offer on EBC ones on here not long ago too.

I have used Superstar sintered for last few sets and they have been fine. Just got some Uberbike ones, but not tried them yet
