Hi, I'm trying to whittle down a long list of Endura v Gore v Pearl Izumi jackets or long sleeve wind-proof thermals, and budget being £70-£100, have settled on:

Endura Windchill or Air Defence (looks quite old) or Flyte as an outsider
Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal longsleeve
Gore Contest

The Endura windchill is looking like the favourite, but the PI Elite looks pretty good - just not so sure how warm it is (and nearest shop to try it on is three hours drive!).

So if anyone has one of these (or similar), are they warm when riding in cold conditions (down to -5 or so), without feeling clingy against the skin or not being so warm you have to open the front zip to dump heat?

Cheers.

Not used any of those but I wouldn't wear a softshell in the cold without a vest.

What Al says (almost). The only exception would be a Buffalo/Montane pertex & pile type.
