Need some road mudguards, what's good and what's not? After proper ones not Crud types.

The cheaper sks are ok but don't last as long

Mrs has SKS chromoplastic on one of hers Just bought sks race blade longs good fit on a tightish clearance frame, easy enough to get on and much more stable than race blades, pretty much a full mudguard. But the stay system under the q/r may be a 'mare if you get a puncture in the freezing cold

SKS chromo's seem the default choice and hard to argue against, although personally I went with Bontrager NCS ones as I liked how easy they were to fit (don't look particularly brilliant though but then no mudguards do). http://www.evanscycles.com/products/bontrager/ncs-road-mudguards-ec026714

I disagree, Chromoplastics really improved the look of my commuter / tourer:

I've had Tortec ones in the past (bought because of the reflective strip) but I eventually broke them. Now running SKS on both road bikes; Chromoplastics on the singlespeed and Blumels on the geared.

I wish I'd got Chromoplastics on both, they're just the best. Much better coverage.

Chromoplastics are definitely the way to go if you have eyelets. Had to get some Fender Nuts and chop down the stays, but not a major faff to fit.

Avoid the plastic crud ones, they rattled around and broke fairly easily.

Long alu ones: http://janheine.wordpress.com/2012/11/19/why-we-dont-need-rain-bikes-any-longer/

Or some SKS longboards.

Or make your own carbon stayed ones 🙂
