to replace my On One... one, which shrunk to a piddly size (in a 30 degree wash, with all my other merino clothing, which all stayed absolutely fine), as they won't replace it 🙁

only it's 2nd or 3rd wash too 👿

swobo LS merino jersey from 'charlie the bike monger' or 'stif.
or Ibex shak (no rear pockets but excellent quality - had one for 6 years).

both above are quality - thousands of miles and washes... expensive but worth it.

I use one of these. The polyester on the outside has stood up to thorn attacks and shrugs off the weather a bit better too. Had mine 2 or 3 years and still looking pretty good and has had a lot of use.

Ground effect one looks pretty good (and cheaper).

reminds me, my Lab-Gear merino gilet is getting worn out but its over £75 now ( http://www.lab-gear.com/windproof-merino-vest) - can't find any other options - anyone know of any?

Rapha Paul Smith Jersey. £100 to £150 but I wear mine a couple of times as a stylish top, either on its own or under a formal jacket for work, then 3 or 4 times as a riding top, bung it in the wash at 40 degrees, and it comes out superb again so start over..

My Surly top has been washed many times with no obvious shrinkage - apart from the mass shrinkage that seemed to affect all my clothes after Xmas 🙂

It does say on the On One label hand wash only. Been wearing / washing mine by hand , its a pain. Considered bunging it in the machine on a wool cycle, but if yours shrunk at 30' now i am not so sure.

I can recommend the Rapha LS jersey as an all year round top. Not too warm on warm days and warm enough under a shell on cool days. My fave though is what was the Rapha Fixed Jersey, but is now the Merino Jersey, one of my fave tops (I have 2!). Another great all round top. Warm enough most of the time, even in ultra cold if layered with a base layer and a shell. Have to say though even as an owner of quite a bit of Rapha gear, only you can decide if the price is acceptable. I think my fixed jerseys were £85 when I bought them. I think £120 is pretty steep but depends what else is around at a better price. I also have an Endura LS merino jersey which is the only item by them I have ever been disappointed in. It seems to me more like an old fashioned acrylic jersey than a merino top. It cost £75. I have to say if I was in the position to buy another merino jersey I'd rather pay £120 for the Rapha than £75 for the Endura.

Have a look at Shutt VR but I don't think they do a pure merino jersey, just sportwool (which is what the Rapha LS Jersey is made from). A good material IMO.

I love my Specialized Argali jersey, even though it's bright red - and I mean BRIGHT RED (Mrs T, who bought it as a gift, wanted me seen when I'm cycling through the lanes). I just pray it doesn't turn pink with successive washes (hasn't happened yet). One one looks good though and tempted to get one, especially when they're on offer.
Edit: Doesn't have any fancy washing procedure either - just gets chucked in with the other things in the wash irrespective of what's on the label. No ill effects and still going strong a year after she bought it

yeah, probably a small size now (was large).
