I put a bigger-than-normal snakebite in my minion doubledown, unironically on Snakebite at Bike Park Wales (*). I've patched it with a standard innertube patch and it's holding up just fine but the slit is still wanting to openand it's definitely a weak spot. It's too close to the edge for my chunky mushroom plugs, I think basically what I want is somethng exactly like an innertube patch but thicker and less stretchy.

But what would that be? A bit of dh innertube maybe? I've seen some people mention products specifically meant for this but I can't find anything by googling.

(I don't think it's quite big enough to warrant sewing it up and that might create problems of its own)

(* oh ok, this was 110% my fault- I'd binned it pretty badly at dirt farm the day before, and was struggling with everything just being bloody sore so I'd lowered the tyre pressures to take out some sting, thinking that I was riding slower than usual so it'd be fine. And yes I was riding slower but also clumsily so, bang, instaflat. Poor ol doubledown does his best but he's not a downhill tyre)

I've used mushroom plugs even on the bead of the tyre.

Always worked fine for me.

Sometimes cut the patch level with the edge of the bead sometimes wrap it around, refit the tyre and then trim it level with the top of the rim.

Motorbike innertube patches perhaps?

A 'tire boot'?  Park Tools do specific ones (TB-2), otherwise a section of toothpaste tube type material held in place with a bit of that rubber glue you get with some inner tube patch kits would do.

The bin, only place for the tyre. Blow outs aren't much fun, especially on a front tyre.

Rema Tiptop make giant blue patches and a special blue rubber cement that goes with them. I've had success with patching the inside of torn tyres with this (one on a fat bike tyre that had an L shaped tear).

I've stitched sidewall cuts of ~ 1/2" with dental floss then used superglue powerflex (imprtant that t's the flexible type not std superglue) to fix a boot made of an old tyre sidewall over the top. Lasted until the tyre wore out.
