Do you reckon it's the BB/frame thread interface?
Or the ball bearings?
Or the Bearing seating in the shell?
Or the top hat in the bearing?
Or the Spindle in the top hat?
Or the crank arm agains the whole thing?
Or daemons?

Cos I don't know......

Could be all of those things. Grit in the bearings stopping free movement and/or slop between worn surfaces anywhere else.

Threadlock or grease depending where the movement is coming from and which materials are mating.

Nope, it's the devil. Legend goes that he invented the BB92 Chinese carbon frame to punish those in purgatory with an infernal and unfixable creak, worked so well he rolled it out into the real world.

yup water, washing out the grease, so dry ball bearings rubbing against the dry shell.

My 'BB creak' turned out to be a worn out saddle with rails that flexed ever so slightly in the clamp at the end of the seat post. I was nine tenths crazy by the time I finally figured this out.
