As the cold(er) weather arrives, it's getting a bit chilly sitting outside (keeping an eagle eye on my bike) whilst supping a post (road) ride beer or two.

What jersey/jacket/layer combo keeps you warm whilst not riding but isn't too hot when honking up hill?
Layers must fit in the rear pockets of a road jersey...

I've read about Gabba but suspect that it's fine whilst generating heat exercising but not so sure about when you're sat still outside.

I've got a Endura Windchill jacket for when it's really cool or when I'm not working too hard but it's far too bulky to stash in a rear pocket for an energetic workout.

(I generally run warm so don't usually require multiple layers for my core...)

At the moment it’s this for me..... https://isadore.com/long-sleeve-shield-jersey-midnight-navy-2-0
Either with a gilet or a Rapha Pro Team Wind jacket
https://www.rapha.cc/gb/en/shop/mens-pro-team-lightweight-wind-jacket/product/PLK03XXMBW
The wind jacket is for emergency use, packs very small.

If I’m going to start and finish in a gilet I wear the above. I’ve not tried to pack it away but suspect it’ll be too bulky.

Can you take a really shit jacket and leave it at the pub before you head off?

A Rapha Pro Team or Brevet insulated gilet will roll down nicely to fit in a rear jersey pocket and offers a good bit of warmth when stopped or descending.

Has worked well for me recently with a long sleeved sportwool Jersey (Torm) and suitable base layer.

What is it with road riders and not taking even a small top tube or stem bag? Ours then fit a down jacket or couple of base layers in.

As above, unless you’re riding the TDF then just take a lightweight down jacket or something in a bar or saddle bag. No jacket suitable for riding will keep you warm when sat still & vice versa.

That's Plan B...

That's Plan C...

I'll check out some of the other suggestions as well. Thanks

Plan D is find a pub with an outside heater of some sort! 😉

Plan E (aka "It's pissing down") is to foresake the beer ☹️

Insulated gilet, I have an Endura one and it's decent. I like the OMM one too but the I got the Endura one cheaper.

Montane primaloft jacket (I've a prism that has been great). Packs small, is warm and looks pretty discreet.
