My son who is 12 years old is looking for some bike lights. These are firstly for safety for riding back from friends houses when the light is diminishing. They will also be used for urban rides with me so need to have an ok front light. No requirement yet for lights for off road biking. What are the best value lights out there?
I'd suggest one of the Halfords bike lights, I think there 3 versions (500/100/1600 lumens) but tbh going by their pricing I'd just get the 1600.. huge thread about them hanging around somewhere
It fell off the 1st page!
Or any of the moon lights would do a job too. £28 gets the 600 lumen one that has various lower outputs too - Moon Vortex. I reckon for easy off-road it would be ok too.
I also have a Moon Meteor Auto X - think that was £20 and has 400 lumens. Also ok really - used it on an unlit towpath fine. Wouldn’t use that off-road though.
Both units have the same very sturdy handlebar mount and you can get a GoPro mount to fix it to a helmet too.
Been 100% reliable and are quite compact.
