A mate is building up a Cotic Simple rigid ss, asked me what length fork to go for.
Will be a commuter/pub/winter bike.
I've said 450mm min. any advances? 29er fork to replicate a 120mm sus fork?
Thanks in advance
If it helps, the A2C on my 100mm 29'er forks is 470mm (Genesis High Latitude) - I would have thought 450mm would be a bit short.
I perhaps should have mentioned it's a 26" version.....
450mm on my 26", just measured it...
Would typically need around 450 but it all depends if you want to force slightly different geometry and what affect that would have. 20mm here or there never made as big a difference as many seem to think when I have tried.
I don't like long forks as I like a low front end (and they also look awful!)
You may prefer the front to be higher, angles pushed back a bit?
I've got 450mm on my Genesis iO - hence my suggestion originally, I think that suits quite well, keeps the handling relatively sharp and responsive, which I think I'd want on this type of bike.
I've had everything from 410mm to 480mm on my (26in) Simple.
Currently settled on 465mm Salsa Cromotos and it's the best it's ever been, prior to that it spent a long time on 440mm and that was good too, less than that was just too short, and the 480s were a bit too long.
