I've been running a single ring chainset for a few years without a chain guide (and suffering derailed chains every now and then, but always at the worst possible moment), and now have a new Alpitude with the ISCG mount around the BB shell.

Never used a chain guide before - what ones should I be looking at for XC use?

It's a 34T 3/32" ring and chain - does it matter?

He means you should use one of these narrow wide chain rings and then you wont drop your chain anymore and it wont weigh any extra.

Interesting... not seen those before. But I've just bought a new 34T steel ring and occasionally use an old 32T one too depending on where I'm riding.

The magic rings are genuinely better than a top-only chain device... Brilliant stuff.

Once you've used a NW ring you won't go back to guides, trust me.
