Staunch Stans user here on all types of bike. Viscosity is spot on and seals well. What do you use and why?

Stan's. Never used anything else. It works while others seem to be hit and miss from what I've seen people say on here.

Used stans, muc off and effeto expresso, Muc off was rubbish and the risidue yuck.
So went back to stans and not looked back.

Orange seal. As with others, it just works. Changed a tyre on the wife’s road bike recently and there were at least eight obvious punctures that she has no idea had happened.

Stans Race.

Long gone are the days of dreading thorns and brambles. I had a huge thorn in my tyre yesterday, I pulled it out, it spat a little sealant and I carried on riding. What's not to like.

Why?

Stans user here, but I’ve just finished the bottle so I’m trying MucOff next. Was Caffe Latex.

orange seal second fave. really good at sealing but coats the inside with thick residue.

Adding glitter is said to help the sealant plug bigger holes.

Tried peatys once that was awful.

Just finished a bottle of the continental offering which i bought whilst in Scotland as it was what they had. It was great but balled up quicker when bikes weren't in use.

Now I'll be going back to stans for the same reasons as everyone else.

I added glitter for a while as I saw ut recommended on the web somewhere, I couldn't notice any improvement tbh so I stopped (I also found out that it isn't particularly great for the environment either!)

Whatever is cheapest by the litre. Caffe Latex at the moment I think.

Used to use the green Slime one which was good and seemingly CO2 proof.

Now Stans mostly, I've used one of those Bontrager mini bottles of blue goo this week which was OK.

The Decathlon sealant has also worked for me with decent tyres but it's definitely not up to same standard as Stan's.

I spent a long time using the latex sealants.

Orange seal - best to seal , quickest to dry out. (Two weeks in the summer of 2020!)

Stans, orange seal endurance and caffe latex. - good and slightly less long to dey out, but still about a month in the summer.

I only have 2 bikes, but I was ripping through alot of sealant because it was drying out so quickly so I shifted to Oko Magic milk high fibre.

It's much thicker, and takes a bit longer to seal lightweight sidewalls, but lasts much longer before drying out and is cheaper too.

– what a place this is.

Stans Race.

It's a few quid more than the cheapest options, but it just works.

CBA messing around with a puncture thinking "for £8 more you would have bought a years worth of Stans Race and it would actually have worked".

Ive just started using Peatys biofibre sealant based on Guy K's review, haven't had the bad luck of a puncture yet but got a few big rides planned in the near future, so hopefully its as good as Guy says it is (either that or I'm just a sucker for biased reviews)

Stans or Stans Race in daughters bikes. We've tried most of the others on the market. All claiming to be the best thing since sliced bread. None have been any where near as good so now just stick with what's going to work

Stans mostly. If I am going to be in a muddy field doing tyre swaps that matter then Stans Race, just to be sure.

I love my New Zealand Deck sealant. It really makes my Deck nice to use.

Oh you mean tyre sealant. I tried Stans and it failed miserably. No idea why. I use Muc-Off now and had no issues.

Stans.

Tried orange seal, didn't work as well.
Tried something cheap from on one, didn't work as well.

Tried many over the years, my fave is Hutchinson sealant, normally can be found in Decathlon if your in a rush/its a Sunday and dont mind payinng a little more

https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/1l-tubeless-tyre-sealant/_/R-p-X8363393

Mainly use Muc off for two reasons, it seems to awlays seal for me on the MTB's and the road bikes and its easy to get hold of from most bike shops or from Amazon with next day delivery

Orange Seal has dried out to a thick layer inside every tyre I've ever tried it in wihin weeks, it's a disaster, and a pain to remove.

Stan's is fine, and costs less.

Mainly stans but sometimes use Joe's if I'm in the local bike shop to inflate a tyre

I find most sealants on mtb tyres are fine but road tubeless is hit and miss due to higher pressures. I've also tried glitter, not sure it made a difference and it gets everywhere.

I've just asked my LBS to order in some silca ultimate tyre sealant to try. It's expensive! Going to try this on the road bike based on this video.

Anyone else tried it?

Stans. It’s never failed to stop a puncture whereas all the alternatives I have tried have failed (Juice Lubes stuff was ok but it was a gift and just went back to using Stans afterwards as I think I’d just used it to top off a few bikes that already had Stans in the tyres anyway). Why spend money on stuff that might work when you know what does.

My wife had Joes No Flats tubes in her road bike when she did Lands End to John O’Groats and was the only one not to have a flat tyre at some point.

If you’re still keeping score, another ‘Stans it just works buy it cheapish don’t bother looking at anything else’ here. And a plus-one from my mate.

Continental. It lasts a good long time and doesn’t go clumpy. I’ve used it for years.

I've still got some muc-off sealant stains on my frame. Unless you get it off quick, it's stains like f$$k!

Stans is decent, but I've switched to Oko High Fibre and it is imo just better. Seems exactly as good at sealanting, but it's longer lived- and water based so if it's drying up, add water. If you want to change a tyre, and you hate waste, add a little water first and shake it up and you can drain it out and reuse easier. Cleans out of tyres better too.

Orange sealant for me. It stayed fluid all summer last year in Texas heat but then they are based just up the road in Cedar Park so you’d hope they have cracked the heat issue.

Outta curiosity, has anone here uses OKO and then gone back to stans (for a reason other than availability?)

Never used Stan's. Only ever used OKO. Mainly due to availability when I went tubeless. Used the normal Magic Milk for a short while, but went on to the high fibre after I finished the bottle.

Only had two flats not seal. One dinged rim, and one big slash in the sidewall. Other than those, no issues whatsoever.

I used the agricultural OKO stuff, it kinda worked but not brilliantly. Mostly just used it in the fat bike as it needed proportionally more so cheap was good! Spoke to someone at Planet X when they were selling the bike specific stuff though and apparently it's not the same formula (I think the bike stuff used natural latex?). So that's probably not a fair review.

How do you judge the performance?
I use muc off, seems to never dry out
I've never had an issue with thorn punctures, there always seal
But I've had 3 cuts in the tread, in the last 2 yrs, probably from flint, 5-10mm, which have needed plugs to seal.
Would stans (or any other brand) have dealt with those without the need of a plug?

Orange seal endurance for me, it lasts ages - months and months, easily the life of a tyre.

Over the years I've always used Orange on all the family bikes, never had an issue. Getting low on current bottle so maybe I'll give Stans a try next.

Can I just top up with Stans or should I clear out the Orange first?
