Just a quick question. How many miles do you commute to work everyday?
Thanks for your input.
Variable - 16 miles each way today, about 400 yards each way tomorrow 🙂
750m
1.6 miles
18 miles each way if i drive, 16 if I cycle.
Up to 45 miles if I ride all the way. More often I drive half way, so 22 miles, or 10 miles if I'm in the other office. All each way.
4 miles there, 3 miles back
6 miles
About 1/2 mile but there are jumps! Used to do Brighton-London daily - tiresome...
I only ever cycle home, and normally just once a week, but when I do it's 26 miles.
About 24 miles each way, twice a week, sometimes three (although none at the moment, having a break).
10k on the dot.
12-15 miles ew; but not every day
800km - certainly not every day, and defo not on the bike!
Upstairs to the bedroom I've made into an office.
Just moved, it's now a 2 mile round trip!
More time and legs to ride off-road after work 😀
I don't ride everyday but when I do it's a 56-60 mile round trip. Try and do it 2/3 times a week although I appear to be rubbish doing it in the summer.
8-30 depending on route
15.5 miles on road, about 16 miles if I do it via towpaths. A fairly consistent 50-55 minute ride, 1.20 via the off-road route which I only ever do when it's dry. So about 3 times this year...
24 miles if I drive and that can vary between 35 minutes and 2hrs depending on traffic.
max 4 miles each way. since mid august, i've cycled it every day though (mon-fri), without fail.
Mine's 5.14 miles there, same back. Takes roughly 17 minutes depending on the wind.
16 miles each way
a bit over 16miles each way
About 10 feet. From bedroom to living room.
I'm a stop at home dad.
7 miles each way 🙂
40 Drive or 25 Drive/15 ride each way
11 mile each way on the road. 10 mile each way off road. usually cycle to work 4 days a week.
25 miles each way Adlington to Knowsley (liverpool)
Superb route through country lanes and nice and quiet
7 in the car, 5 on the bike
30 each way drive
1/2 mile.. downhill there.. uphill home
9.6 miles each way, mostly on NCN 11.
About 4.5 if I go by the most direct route. If I run to work I usually take a detour to make it something closer to 6 or 7. If I cycle it tends to be about 13 miles there and a 5 - 6 mile route home. Unless it's summer and a nice evening in which case I might detour on the way home too...
7 miles each way, but often extend it to 10-15 miles depending on when I leave work.
cycle 15 miles Mon - Fri, been 90% offroad for the last 3 years 😀
8 miles on a single speed (no real hills in Hertfordshire so no need for gears). And 15 miles when I ride in with the GF on my days off (total of 60 as have to ride both ways twice).
3 miles each way on't road - lots of options to make it longer & more exciting but I never take them... always running late in the morning and too wrecked after the gym in the evening
4 miles to work for me which seems about perfect for a nice ride in work clothes. Much more and I'd probably get lycraed up for a bit of speeed
15 miles each way. I can shorten it to about 14 miles of fast road if the weather is bad or I can add on ten miles of offroad if it's nice. Normally though, 15 miles. About 50/50 on/off road.
According to google's new cycling maps - 6 miles exactly each way.
Currently 25 miles each way - by car, never done it on bike. All being well a new job and relocation means it should be 5 or 6 miles each way in a few months time - which sounds like a nice distance for riding in and back!
Daily: 10-15 miles in and 10 miles home
Once or twice a month: 40 miles each way
13 miles each way 5 days a week ...best part of my day
wakes me up on the way there winds me down on the way home
Love it
16 miles each way, singlespeed road bike
25km each way. 5 days a week when ever im uk based.
Mid week mtb is a chuff by a colleague takes me in his van from work just means a fast cadence 32:18 ride in on the mtb
Car - 23 miles each way. 40 mins to 1 hour 15 mins depending on traffic.
Bike - 17.5 miles each way. 1 hour +/- a few minutes depending on weather (wind!). Try and do this 3 times a week.
40 miles a day, across London. 128 sets of traffic lights each way. Joy.
15.9 miles each way. Normally 3 times a week as I play other sports on the days I don't ride - i'd be in bits if I did it every day, plus other stuff & riding at the weekend too.
I can't seem to ride it 'slow' no matter how hard I try. I'd love to cruise in and home in around an hour, but it's never happened yet. Broke under the 45 min barrier recently, but it hurt. A lot.
Depends what shift I'm working that week.
6am - 2pm average around 70 miles/ week
2pm - 10pm average around 100m/ week
10pm- 6am average around 0m / week ( I go in the car)
Not to bad considering it's only 3miles to work if I go straight there.
8 miles return.
16 miles there, 20 miles back - every day
12.5 miles each way either MTB or road pretty much the same distance.
previous job was 20 miles each way....
Currently about 10 metres but it used to be a 15 mile each way cycle on the road or a 20 mile each way cycle by towpath.
11 hilly miles each way, 4 days per week.
4 miles each way.
Seven miles there and back, dodging dog walkers on the boring sustrans bike motorway, or nineish miles of proper trail, guess which I prefer!
11 miles each way, 99% off road and traffic free on fantastic Sustrans route through Tyne Riverside Country Park
2 or 3 days a week, depending on what shifts the missus is working.
My commute has changed somewhat from earlier in the year. Then.. 3miles to station, 1.5 miles to office & repeat..
Now.. Nothing, all by car and train. Has to be said.. I miss the bike.
Small 16mis each way.
Medium 18mls each way
Large 20mls each way.
Combinations of med/large over spring/summer and small/med in autumn/winter.
Monday-Friday. Apart from depths of winter.
They are quiet scenic routes and I never forget how lucky I am .
I love my commute 🙂
10 miles each way, every day. 50% road, 50% Taff trail through Cardiff. Can do the journey quicker on the bike than I can in the car (and yes I stop at red lights!) 😀
6.3 miles each way.
On the bike every day. Dying a bit now after an hour of 5-a-side at lunch and a 13 mile night ride just now.
12.2 miles on national cycle network 'roads'
10.5 miles with a bit of off road (summer route only as I found oxfordshire mud broke my mudguards today!)
10 miles by car. Cycle in about 2 days a week currently, going to up it.
an all to short 3.5 miles each way, but sometimes take the long route in which is 12 miles
4 miles each way for me.
35 miles each way. I'd ride it but I can't be arsed with that especially with early shifts. I spend so much on petrol. Would love a short commute, but not in my current job location!
23.5 miles each way by car ...... but hoping by the end of today , that will be 1.7 miles by bike as Ive an interview later closer to home 😀
1.2 miles downhill to work, 3.5 miles uphill back home twice a day five days a week, I work a split shift,
7 miles each way, which is pretty much perfect. Takes less than 30 mins on the SS and is mostly on bike path. I count myself lucky.
About three miles each way, mostly on traffic free purpose built cycleways. 🙂
19.5 miles to work
20 home (avoid busy road)
At the moment I'm only doing one way, and getting the train home which trims 15-16 miles off the return leg.
Mine is 24 miles each way. Only do it from April to July three times a week, any more and I am to tired to go out a club run or do any mountain biking at the weekend.
Pretty busy trunk road, so it's not the nicest journey.
GrahamS you are one luck man.
5 and a half on the road. Just over 6 off road. However, I usually get tempted to take detours off road, so it can end up closer to 7 or 8.
5 miles road.
10 miles on the dot each way
GrahamS you are one luck man.
Cheers, I know 😀
Closeness to that route was a major plus point when we were looking for a house.
It's also why I'm so keen on proper off-road provisions for all cyclists* - I wouldn't be riding to work if I had to chance it on the A-road and I suspect neither would most of the people I see on it.
.
(* as well as, not instead of, proper on-road provision of course)
ive only cycled my commute a couple of time. 56 mile round trip and 6000ft of climbing means its not really an everyday thing...
About a mile, it's not worth getting the bike out really. The childminders run is about a 3 mile round trip twice a week and its easier to put hoppy jr in the bike trailer than the car.
Anything between 13 steps & 250 miles this week.
None on the bike though.

Man up, that sounds fine, split in half, less than 2 hours per journey, great way to start the day! Do it one day, drive/train home, ride in/train home. That's what I do when I ride all the way to London.
i've done it like that in the summer, but dartmoor gets a bit wild for that in the winter...
