is puncture repair "glue" the best way of bonding butyl to butyl?

From the water gardening industry the best ways are either rubber vulcanization or Butyl joining tape.

You didn't what you want it for

Puncture patch glue now usually isn't glue. It's actually usually de-vulcanising solution that de-vulcanises the rubber and allows the patches to chemically bond to the tube.
Old style patches used "rubber glue" but this isn't what most modern patches us.

An inner tube "gasket"? I like your thinking.

When I was doing LeJog, one of the guys just used duct tape round the top of his Sealskinz.

Buy some cheap washing up gloves (30 p), cut a loop along the wrist in the right place et voila.

Or Livestrong style / rubber bands as per the thread about sealskinz.

Does superglue not work on butyl? do you have other glue in the house you've tried?

flexible loctite superglue is pretty good for gluing bits of inner tube insde flinted tubeless tyres, may be worth trying.

pieface/will the socks are mid calf so need to have "gaskets" that are tight enough but not restrictive on the calf hence the need to make some that are the correct size. Also i have no access to washing up gloves at 8pm on new years day!!

Sacrifice a couple of puncture repair patches - so wrap the length of tube around to the required length and then use a patch to stick them together like you would use sellotape?
