You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
As you can imagine, my current home and contents insurer is no longer willing to cover my bicycles, and so I am in hunt for another insurer.
I have looked at what is available through British Cycling, and the cost is nothing short of extortionate. Other insurers, such as PedalSure and VeloSure, are more reasonable, but I have yet to actually give them precise details about recent claims, so that could change radically.
In any case, is there a company I should be looking at at this point?
There's a point when you might need to consider self-insuring.
Have you considered finding some of the lads who will watch your car mister?
Perhaps sublet the back of the garden for a decent weed growing setup and they should be able to provide security
Get a big **** off Irish Wolfhound and a small noisey yappy terrier.
I tried this guy, but he's already employed.

The thing is, you can sort of understand why though. Insurers just work on statistics and risk. And if you’ve had loads of bikes stolen on multiple occasions, then you are a bad risk. They basically don’t want your business, and are pricing to discourage you from being a customer.
Unless your annual premiums are something like 50% to 100% of the value of your bikes, I can’t see them winning from your description of your claims history.
Not insurance but I don't know why I didn't think of it before on you other thread. Google Paintball sentry gun, I'm sure the same principle would work with a gas or electric airsoft gun. Alternatively with a CO2 gas blow back BB gun if you can still buy the ones that fire the 6mm steel bb's...
I'm sure there would be few folk on here that could help with the electronics / computing based on Project Sentry Gun
It’s about slowing them down; anything that takes too much time and effort, they will look elsewhere.
if you have windows in garage shed then bars across them which will make them have to hacksaw their way through.
secure the door with a sliding bar from inside that would stop door being forced open.
Only entry point then is the roof.
Ps.
I have a few lengths of titanium bars that would take someone hours to hand saw through - and light up the sky if power tools were used to grind through them; let me know and we can design a solution.
Asgaard bike store?
I can kinda see why you'd be effectively uninsurable - It's clear that any bike you put back in the same place will be stolen as well. Sadly you have 4 options as I see it;
1: Build Fort Knox in your garden - heavy brick shed, steel door, un peelable roof, bars on windows etc then self insure. (if you do this think what message this may send to prospective buyers when you do sell)
2: Move bikes indoors
3: Take up new sport and forget bikes
4: Move
I'd be going for option 4 myself....
Saxon rider Unfortunately the problem you may have is that pedal cover (and others) will only usually cover if you have one years no claims.
It sucks that your current provider won't help as you will now have to pay a heavy premium for not having any no claims.
It may be that you have to just pay a high premium for the next year and then swap over to pedal cover etc.
This is currently what I've needed to do also btw with my existing insurer.
