What insoles for riding (flats)?

I've got some Specialized 2FO Roosts that I really like, but they give me achey soles on longer rides. Figure new insoles might fix this. Any recommendations?

You could try Specialized's own Body Geometry Footbeds.  The different colours have differing amounts of arch support depending on what works for you.  I ended up with the high arch support ones as I was finding the outside of my foot aching. Possibly a different issue though - where is it aching?

Specialized's own Body Geometry Footbeds.

+1.

I had a bike fit for my road bike recently and am on the medium foot beds.

They are properly weird to stand on at first. After 200 road bike miles they are starting to feel less odd and there is definitely more support for my arches.

The fitter suggested the highest one for my feet, but it felt like having a Lego in my feet. I didn't think I  could tolerate riding with them.

I'd suggest trying before buying.

Green specialized ones cured my issues with flats.

Interesting, will see if I can find some of those to try, thanks.

Sort of the balls of my feet I think (can't actually think exactly now it's gone!).

If it's just caused by the pins creating pressure points coming up through softish soles I'm not sure the Specialized BG footbeds would help much, or is the toe box tight (if so you probably need new shoes...)?

Do they come with removable inners? If so, try swapping some from another pair of shoes you like.

Otherwise, Pro 2 insoles are reasonably priced and have been good for me. I like the plantar ones.

I ride flats.  I like the body geometry insoles.  They come in three variants each with different arch support.  I have really high arches prone to pronation so I use level 3, which are quite severe, but I love them.  You can usually pick them up cheap at cyclestore.   Bontrager do some of the same sort of thing. I have those in my winter boots and they’re as good.

I don't think it's that. It feels more like very rigid soles and not enough padding to accommodate that.

This is a good shout, thanks. I've got a couple of pairs I could try. Looking more closely at the original ones, they say Body Geometry, but obviously not the arch support ones. They also have a "metatarsal button" (a lump on the middle). Wonder if it's that that's making them uncomfortable!
