Im in the market for a new set of brakes and have decided on hope, not everyone likes them but made in england and good customer service are what counts for me.
What I want to know is what hopes are people running n there trail bikes? Are m4s overkill for trail riding?
Happy with mono minis here. a pal runs M4s Minis should be fine
I've had Mono M4's for an age now. Rebuilt once and bled a couple of times, faultless and powerful. There are better out there but they are 100% serviceable and for a lump like me they do the job.
Running tech x2's on my Orange hardtail with semi sintered pads in on 180F/140R and they're ample for my 15st bulk , I lock the rear up with 1 finger.
On my gravity sled I've got M4's on 203mm rotors front and rear with fully sintered pads and they are vicious , so much that I have to run them with the bite point wound right out.
plenty of people slag hope stuff down but parts availability / customer service and ease of maintenance win out everytime for me.
The Race Evo M4's or Race Evo X2's if you are in the market for a trail brake.
If power is less important and you want a little more adjustment go with the tech levers but they offer less power and only really make sense if your using the downhill (V2) brakes.
In fact scratch the Race M4, go with the Race X2 or the tech V2. You can reduce the Tech V2 weight down to almost the weight of the Race M4 by dumping the braided hose and using 180mm v2 discs or even the 160mm trials disc on the back.
