My Hope hub is feeling a bit graunchy, so probably time to change the bearings - but which ones do I need?

Its a rear hub from a 2004 Mt Vision, no model number, just 03-04-XC marked on it, is this the XC hub? If so do i need the XC kit from here ?

You may well find only 1-2 of the 4 bearings needs replaced. You can get them singly from bearings suppliers/ebay etc

Good point, thanks. It is a trade off between the hassle of going to get more as I need them
nooe to identify which I need first though

Strip the hub right down jot down the bearing numbers and order from bearing factors/eBay replace them all at same time it will only cause more strain on newer bearings to wear quicker replacing in 1/2's ul probably get 2 sets for the price ud get 1 from hope
Also if its a xc (which it sounds like) make sure u put the spacers in the right way round I was sold mine with them vice versa and it locks up on the hub shell.

If its an XC, which it sounds like it is, you're as well replacing all 4 bearings.
They take 6001 2RS bearings. Get a good quality branded bearing like SKF, FAG, INA etc.

Couple of tips.
Dont mix the spacers up!
To get the inner freehub bearing out, you'll need to remove a circlip. To get at this remove the outer (nearest the cassette lockring) freehub bearing first, you'll need to push the internal spacer a bit to 1 side to get a screwdriver or punch on the inner race.
Oh and dont mix the spacers up.

Oh, and once you've got the bearings out of the hub shell, give the ratchet ring a really good clean and degrease and then have a good look at the state of it. If its heavily worn or the teeth are damaged then its time for a new hub.
You can get them replaced but Hope have no stock left and I managed to get the last one that BETD had.
