I've bought one of the El Guapo frames from on-one and just discovered not all 1.5" steerer external headsets are equal.....as the one I'd bought is way too small! after a very quick measure with the rule it looks like the internal diameter of the frame's headtube is about 48.5mm ish...very ish. So I guess that this is the correct headset

can anyone confirm? And any thoghts on Nukeproof headsets? recommend any others?
[goes to find jiffy bag to return wrong headset...]
Does it come with a crown race?
yes
and for a straight 1-1/8 steerer, what sort of headset please?
Headtube is 49.6mm lower, 44mm upper.
On One smoothie mixer headset fits (and works with 1 1/8 steerer). £40 from On One or $30 from Titus. 🙄
ok thanks so.. um
is that not a common size? can use e.g. Works Components angle sets?
Titus were using direct insert bearings sounds like they've stopped doing that (good).
thanks for tip on price also 🙂
I was intending to use a Hope Pick 'n' Mix set up. Using parts 2 and D, this should work I believe with a 1-1/8" fork.
ok cool so using a straight fork def. not a problem on new frames then?.. i've read some conflicting stuff and don't really understand headset sizes.
@Brant, Hope 2 D is correct?
How about this?
