Another what frame thread.... I'd like to hear any ideas for:

Hardtail, 27.5 wheels, non Boost rear (although adapters might fix that) and designed to work with 140-160mm forks. Ideally something that climbs reasonably well and comfortable for longer rides

Will most likely get something second hand

In true singletrack style ill recommend what I have 😉

I have just replaced a 26 aint dead Cotic Bfe with the latest gen 27.5 and it ticks all the boxes above, I have it set up with 140 Fox 34s which seems just right, I ran the 26" with Fox 36s which were great on descents but made the front pop up on really steep climbs.

If you're looking second hand then how about:

Bird Zero

2016/7 Orange P7. Ace all rounder and far more capable than you'd expect.

Recommend what I have.

Cotic Bfe.   Climbs much better than you would expect, stable and fast on the downs, but still nimble enough elsewhere. Running 150mm fork on mine

Recommend what you have.... another Bird Zero AM rider here. It's amazing! 150mm beast, that I've done 30 mile rides on very comfortably (well, if I'm honest, I was knackered, but the bike loved every second of it!).

But nairnster, your BFe is bloody gorgeous, and imagine that it is quite a lovely ride too.

Airdrop Bitmap.

The quickest time at the recent Eastgate DH/TT was on a Bitmap. He spanked all comers, FS and HT alike. True story.

But in a recommend-what-you-own vein, mk1 Stanton Switchback 🙂

I'd be looking at stif morf or 650b orange P7.  There was one on the classifieds last week. Geo on both is bang up to date.

Another vote for a Bird Zero here.

I bought a Mk1 frame second hand about 10 months ago and built it up with Fox 140mm forks and it is a great bike. Very capable on the rough stuff but also good for long, more relaxed rides.

One of the things that attracted me to Bird is that the frame warranty is transferable. That is something to consider if buying second hand.
