Hi.

I'm in the market for an HT frame and current scratching my head about what to get. So I'm wondering what others can recommend.
🙂

Use would best be described as light XC. So obviously looking for the usual suspects, light, strong, stiff, etc.

Not interested in Carbon, just going to stick with Ali. Running a 100mm fork, 3 x 9 gears, that sort of thing.

Thats it really.

Cheers
🙂

Just bought one of these but got to wait another 2 weeks for shipment - the XC2 I have currently is a great bike 🙂

XCPro3 - £399

Or if carbon rear stay are not wanted then the XC120?

Solo - the New XCPro3 - semi-integrated - got a hope one comming but everything else fits from my XC2

The XC120 is a 120 fork - the XC2 is a 100mm fork - both have std headsets 🙂

is about £210-£220

Shame I'm not selling my XC2 quite as soon as I would have liked as waiting for the Pro3 otherwise you could have it for £100 🙁

Pedal Force, 1240g carbon frame for less money than most of the alu suggestions on here!

If you're after an 18" I've got one to sell!

Have you thought about Ti and / or a 29er?
Best of both worlds especially on a HT.

Pedal Force then, 20" frame, less than £250, just search eBay for 'Carbon MTB frame' then go to the international sellers.

Budget ?. Well, the Kona would be top-end really. I've no real hard-set figure in mind.

29ers aren't on the shopping list as I want to carry-over all other kit from my current HT. Ti will probably be Way over budget I'm thinking.

Thanks.

Solo.

@ solo - I think its a 50cm - the new Pro3 is the 44.5cm which is a similar reach - I am 6ft 🙂 Fits nicely although maybe a tinsy bit short on TT but that personal?

On the Kinesis line, i would have to reccomend the Virsa Decade, ok it's steel but it's a damn good frame and good for all types of riding, got mine for £175 off ebay.

Exactly? Except for the bit where he wants an Aluminium frame? 😛

I'd still go Pedal Force, 700g lighter than that Brand-X for an extra £100!

Yeap, still looking guys. Thanks for all the comments.

Have to admit I'm liking the Kinesis, but I've still yet to buy anything.

ChrisL - yeah, I spotted that after I posted! Still worth a look, I've got a Kinesis frame which rides great, but the Sanderson is a world apart. A wee bit more money, mind.
