Saw a few prototypes, then all went quiet...
can MrP shine a light on the situation ?
Shimano don't talk about stuff much - but I'd guess there are a few reasons:
- it wasn't new - it was a nicely made system, but really no better than any of a dozen other systems already in production
- Shimano like to control their production, and they won't have made much of it - the batteries, motor and electronics would have been outsourced. I doubt they'd have been really happy with that.
It is a bit of a shame - one thing the electric bike industry needs is a set of standards to improve interchangeability. Having a Shimano system may have helped with that.
perhaps might come back with the Di2 Alfine?
