[Closed] What glasses best for MTB?

Lido are selling the mtb glasses at the moment with interchangeable lenses. Total bargain.

Do they work underwater rockape?

I've got a fair few googles.....but I always go back to my 2012 jawbones ( Oakley )

Missing my lost evil eyes, up there on the list to replace. Not had anything better.

Aldi specials here. Cheap as chips. Scratch em. Chuck em. Simples.

Hard to beat Oakleys, if your looking at them you'd probably be looking at Jawbone/Racing jackets or maybe Radars or Flack Jacket XLJs. You'll want the persimmon or yellow lenses.

I'd rather not wreck or lose £100+ glasses again though so I now use Polaris Clarity. For a cheap £11 pair of glasses they are comfy, a good shape for wearing with a helmet and the lens has less distortion than say Endura or Uvex glasses at a similar price.

Decathlon ones work fine for me at the clear/yellow/orange end of the spectrum - £5-10.

(OK, I have an old pair of M Frames as well for bright sunny road rides)

i've ridden in a fair few sunnies over the past couple of years. YMMV but i've pretty sensitive eyes, and a lot of glasses give me a headache/wonky eyes after 10-15 minutes, which is why i tend to choose ones with decent lenses.

These are the ones i'm happy wearing...
Anything with Karl Zeiss lenses - Madison do a couple, the optics are really good for the money
POC - look a bit daft, unless worn with a POC lid, IMO
Tifosi - mid range and up seem good to me
Oakley - they lenses are up there with POC for quality, you pays your money though.

Favourites? Jawbones with Prizm Trail lens (again, need to be worn with a lid, and not the garish fluro green frame). the lens really pics out details well - it makes everything look much more contrasted, but the slight mirror finish means i'm yet to get squinty with them. I'm waiting until i can get prizm trail lenses after market for radarlocks, as i think they look better.

As the big pic above bolle safety glasses only about a tenner very comfy and just picked up a brand new pair sealed in bag with a case.

I'd never spend more than £20 on a set of mountain biking specs as I scratch them so often. The expensive ones might make sense for road biking but when you've flinging yourself around a forest filled with abrasive mud and eye-height rogue brambles the cost of replacement lenses makes little financial sense.

Currently using a pair of UVEX ones I bought from CRC for £20 which came with three interchangeable sets of lenses including my personal favourite persimmon / orange (out of stock now though)

Those Bolle safety glasses are perfect if you're after a clear pair.

the bolle's aren't clear they've got a very nice blueish tint to them .

The Bolle ESP versions have a slight blue / grey tint, the non-ESP versions are properly clear. I use them, they're faultless, I don't see any point in spending any more.

The only damage my Racing Jackets have received was when I dropped them off my road bike (They were clipped into my helmet) which left a small mark on the lens. Haven't had any problems with them on the MTB. Replacement Oakley (Racing Jacket / Jawbone) lenses are around £45 for plain ones (I.e. not Polarized or Photochromatic). So even if you scratch 'em it's not a huge expense to replace the lenses. You wouldn't want to lose them though!

Are the Prizm trail lenses worth having? I can't really find any decent reviews for them online but I like the idea. Consumerism at its finest.

I've used a selection at all price points, the only ones I go back to are the evil eyes. Fog clearing, optical quality, coverage all do more and do it better. I'd agree that it might not be 10x better but for me it works. The other ones tend to get taken off, discarded and not used because they annoy me in one way or another. The Evil Eyes stay on all ride (until I lost them) now I will replace them. I've gone back to cheaper ones in the mean time and they just don't do it the same.

I am a great fan of the Evil Eye probably the best sunnies I have ever had but having smashed/lost two pairs I can't stand the expense anymore. I could have bought a decent pair of wheels for what I have spent so now it's just cheapo Decathlon or similar
