So after spending a few days holidaying on the bike, using Komoot from my phone, I'm guessing a more bike specific navigation thingy would be good. I think I'll be downloading GPX files, and then using suggested Komoot rides. Not too interested in high tech, or monitoring my heart-rate or similar, really just good navigation.

Looking secondhand as budget is tight. What should I be looking for? (And see there's a Garmin 800 in Classifieds...)

Thanks

If you are going to carry on using Komoot then look for one of the Garmins with Bluetooth and the ability to run IQ Apps. Once you've installed the Komoot App on it then downlaoding to it is pretty much seamless. Edge 530 would be a suggestion.

Edge 530 if battery life concerns you ( I got a second hand unit 6 months ago and it’ll last multiple days riding). Edge explore is a bit cheaper though?

Edge Explore. Good nav, good touchscreen, much cheaper than the 5/800 ones, they have IQ apps so you can plan a route on Strava/Trailforks whatever and the device picks it up automatically. As well as being able to do manual course creation and even satnav style routing on the device.

I’m pretty sure that - if your Strava and/or Komoot account is linked to your Garmin Connect account - any routes or activities are automatically sync’d now without needing any IQ app stuff. So even a non-Bluetooth Garmin (like my 800 in the classifieds 😉) can get routes. You just need to plug it in to your laptop to sync rather than connect to your phone with Bluetooth.

Edge Explore - especially as they're down to £150 now.
