I'm about to flog most of the bikes to get my scott scale flat out race bike and I want to build a second bike out of the bits I have left.

I want a fun mess about the woods type bike. 26er built around some barely used pike 454 uturns I've got lying about.

Suggestions?

I like my 456 and it is good for a budget, which if you are splashing on a serious race bike may be a consideration!

This is gonna sound daft but try a Carrera Subway...

Turns into a really chuckable toy for very little money 😉

Built this for MrsMutt for about £250 all in

really chuckable

Into a skip/quarry/landfill? 😉

But seriously, depends on your definition of messing about in the woods.

Those Nukeproof Snap frames look good, as are those Santa Cruz Jekyll frames

Depending on your height, that Evil Sov wysiwyg is selling in the classifieds... If I hadn't nearly finished my Curtis rebuild I'd be all over that!

I paired my 454s with a really old (02-04) Spesh Enduro and the result was a fun bike par excellence. However, spares for that vintage Enduro are thin on the ground, so I retired the frame (which now hangs on the living room wall) and fitted the Pikes to an Orange Pure 7. The result is sublime.

My Pure 7 isn't light (28lb), nor is it a substitute for a decent full suss, but it's bloody entertaining and taught me a few things about bike control over the winter months.

Hmmmmmmmm, Orange Blood? or the Cove Hooker which replaced it. So much fun it shouldn't be allowed 😛
