After arriving home last night from a ride and my wife thinking I'd crashed due to the amount of blood on my arms and legs - and lets face it with a bit of nettle rash thrown in its pretty stingy.

Those handguards on FGF, whilst looking like a help, wouldn't make much difference IMO as most of my gashes are up my lower arms with the odd ripper on the inside of my elbow (hate those ones!). Not to mention lower legs.

What options are people using, as all the bridleways around here are as overgrown as I've ever seen them in 30+ years of this malarkey. Football socks & arm warmers? Seems a bit warm for that. Bar end mounted strimmer? Need an e-bike to power it. Follow a fatbike? Or a fat bloke? Or just suck it up princess? - and wait for winter.

Double battery hedge trimmers. One on the end of each grip powered off your ebike battery?

lightweight trousers and long sleeves?
Often do this on hot days to avoid sunburn, in the right material I dont find it hotter.

Long sleeved quick dry thin material top. For the legs, no idea. Light weight knee pads to at least protect down a bit below the knees?

My mates could be tracked down the trails last night by "ooooohhhh", "Ow owowowowowowowo", "ow ow ow oWWWWW"...

I had a long sleeved top, 100% brisker winter gloves, light weight kneepads and socks that were right up to the kneepds. I was mostly ok.

The only solution I've found that properly works was a brush hook and numerous long walks hacking the offending items down. The trials were much better last year when I did it on my favourite bits of my local woods.

Go the bike packing route - put some bags on your forks, brushes stuff away nicely.

LS top for arms...

Get a fat mate, send him down first and stay right up his arse.

Take some wipes to keep the blood of your goggles...

I use VC Guards ones, same type. As they're a guard rather than a deflector design, they work better for smacking the odd branch/gorse/weed than pushing through denser springy things. And any foliage higher/lower than the bar is obviously unaffected.

I originally bought them for winter wind chill, for which they work great. Also good for trees, fire road chicane woodwork, for both your hands and brake levers.

Sorry mate now I've moved out of the area I'm not able to do my bit clearing some of the lesser used trails.

Is it wrong I quite like it? It’s not a summer ride unless you come back with shredded hands and shins, and the tingle of nettle stings all over you.
