I am doing many more miles per week that I was, and as a die hard Hard Tail man, I am beginning to think of the Dark Side ... and going FS.  Ideall transferring what I have on another frame .. but not exclusively ...

I am thinking of shelving the Solaris ... so what 140mm frame, or around,  29er full suss would the posse suggest..

And transferring all the running gear ...

Favourite would be a Flare Max but at 1500 for frame and rear suspension, am I better to go the the canyon site and stop being a brand snob?

Or a Bird  145 / AM 9 around the 2,300 mark?

What say you?

I thought Canyon had overcome the brand snob thing, a bit like Skoda?

Re the Rocket Max...

But that is the older , unfashionable one ....

How much difference in the real world ...?

( I would be going for XL BTW)

I have an XL Rocket Max and can honestly say it's the best bike I've owned, it just does everything brilliantly. Re the unfashionableness, as I find the ride perfect, I can't see how a longer geometry would be better. It's still quite long and slack, I have a 40mm stem on mine, which feels spot on. The £500 discount was an added bonus 😀

XL Flare Max TT is 37mm longer than the Rocket Max, reach is 47mm longer! and wheelbase 40mm. I have a 2017 XL Ragley Bigwig which has tt and reach somewhere inbetween the 2, and i find it too long, so I'm glad l went for the shorter Rocket. HTH. 🙂
