Since my Pompino the chainstay developed a crack  in the chainstay a few months ago I've been commuting on my other halfs hybrid which is starting to annoy me and her.

I'd really like a Charge Plug SS complete bike but it's a bit out of current budget so what frame can I get to replace the Pompino? ( as they don't seem to be available at the moment )

I don't have a suggestion I'm afraid, but I wouldn't replace my mk1 Pompino with a new one anyway, my wife has a more recent one (post change in frame strength regulations) and it's heavy and lifeless in comparison, to the extent I hate riding hers whereas mine has always been a joy to ride. If my pompino breaks I'd be gutted.

I'd be after a medium frame based on the Pompino, thanks for the offer though.

I'm still after the disc brake version. My Pompino has been my daily ride for 12 years now (IIRC).

Do you fancy more of the same or something different? I went from a pompino to a precursa and much prefer it, but it's a very different ride.

Well done on managing to break a pompino, though - not easy to do. You could probably fix a cracked chainstay if you really like the bike? JB weld and a bit of a polish might do.

MIght be repairable with a sleeve brazed over the crack?

I went from a Pompino to a Langster. Obviously you lose the off road abilities, but if you only ride on road its a much nicer ride and a fair bit lighter, but still has mounts for mudguards and bottle cages unlike proper track bike frames.

Kona Paddy Wagon ? Steel, sturdy, not too rare.

It's the second one I've broke! The first one I crumpled the down tube after riding into a wooden bollard. At least this one isn't my fault.

I’m still after the disc brake version.

Yep I'd love an updated Pompino with discs and better tyre clearance.

There are a few Pompetamines floating around - disc brakes but I don't know if the tyre clearance is better than a Pompino.

Pinnacle Arkose Alfine frame? It has discs, uses an eccentric BB. Though not exactly cheap (£375).

Or Genesis Day One? Not sure if it is available frame only.

The best replacement for a Pompino is another Pompino. 🙂

There's bound to be some misguided person looking to upgrade and selling theirs...

If mine broke, I'd get it welded. It's steel after all.
