i have a 2025 specialized chisel fs in small and would really like to be able to carry my essentials on the bike so i can leave the rucksack if possible. essentials being small pump, old topeak alien multitool, spare inner tube, tyre levers, tubeless puncture kit, mobile phone and some food eg bag of nuts, cereal bar etc, waterproof jacket.

i have 2 water bottles fitted and the dropper post so my options seem to be pretty short as to what bag i could fit on the bike.

is there a bag i could get for my bike that i could hold all my stuff and still have room if possible/

thanks in advance 🙂

How about a gas tank style bag, but mounted at the seatpost end of the top tube?

What size bottles do you use? Struggling a bit with my downtube bottle cage (also a small Chisel FS)... my bottle rubs on the shock sometimes.

Something like this?

or

https://alpkit.com/products/bilbie-front-triangle-frame-bag
There's a camo one of those that's a bit cheaper.

i have a larger bottle for the downtube bottle mount  and a smaller bottle for the seat tube bottle mount. haven't had any issues so far with bottle rubbing the shock.

i think i might look into getting a seat bag (that is dropper compatible) and a bar bag as i saw an article in mbuk where they were bikepacking on full sus scott bikes a few years ago with droppers.

Depending on budget, look at tailfin. They have a range of sizes, apparently you upload a photo of your bike and they will tell you which one fits and there should be one to fit almost all bikes

Thanks - it might just be my bottles then. Off to the shop I go!

I've noticed two threads on the bottom of my seat - I wonder whether that's for a saddle bag... only noticed the other day when servicing the dropper post.

Specialized have a tool roll type attachement as part of their SWAT range that bolts to those mounts https://www.specializedconceptstore.co.uk/shop/accessories/bags/2020-mountain-bandit-16618/option/

alternatively there are 3d printed adaptors to allow fitting of other brands bags like this topeak one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194271194557?var=494385786294

It's an awkward shape for a frame bag, I have similar. I use two bottle cages, seat-tube one with a tool bottle for tools, tube etc, and one for a conventional bottle. My minipump is strapped to the side of the downtube bottle cage. That leaves food, layers etc in a bum bag.

You could fit most of that in a decent sized top-tube bag, although at this time of year, I have to start out with arm warmers and a softshell gilet and need to find somewhere for all that about an hour later.

Don't put your tube as shown in that SWAT ad above unless you wrap it up in something impermeable. I used to strap mine to my top tube until I found it wasn't exactly airtight when I came to use it.
