Finally going to build up my Solaris max mk3 and looking for a fork for xc / bike pacing 120mm. Was thinking either sid or fox 32. Hopefully looking for a deal do don’t want to spend over £700 ideally. Is 44mm offset tapered steerer ?

Any recommendations or links to deals much appreciated.

Tia

Are the crc ones a better fork than the Merlin. I’m out of date on what’s good these days

Marzocchi Z2. Like a Fox34, but with a very effective yet more reliable, simpler damping and a longer service interval.

I initially had some 130mm Pike Select + forks on the Solaris Max then changed them for a set of the SID 120mm.
The Pike definitely felt a bit more substantial to me but the SID is much nicer for XC type riding.

The bonus with the Pike is that you can easily increase the travel if you feel like a bit of a change.

I used to have a 140mm Fox 34 on mine.

It was decent enough, but if I was building one now I'd probably have a 120mm Pike at the top of my list.

Bit more sturdy and I prefer the damping to the Fox FIT4.

Or the 34mm Sid if weight was an issue.

I think those CRC and merlin forks are the same. Personally I'm a fox convert. Even the basic 34 performance are excellent. Not tried SID but I've read a few threads on here where people have had issues with them.

I'd say Rock Shox SID - Ideally the Ultimate ones in blue that have 120mm travel and are just one 20 mile ride old with the steerer still over 220mm.

No idea where you'd find those though 🙂
