Long overdue a trip to the continent as it'll have been 4 years since my last trip.

There's a nice familiarity with the PDS area - Morzine especially as it's the only place I've been to - 4 times!

Talking to some guys near Ladybower on Sat and they were raving about Finale Ligure.

Def want some sort of uplift to get the most fun out of what will prob be a week...how do they compare?

I like BPW/Stiniog blues/reds but know my limits. Don't mind a bit of traversing and not looking for hooligan DH stuff. Looking to go July/Aug time.

TIA

July and August, you'll have lots of options. All the French lifts will be running (from early July, usually) and for me, Whiteroom is the gold standard here but there are lots of other resorts to explore. I've only ridden in France, Spain and Switzerland so can't comment on Finale - I'd love to go but would probably avoid July and August for scorchio reasons. Happy to be proven wrong on that though (also worth considering that Finale will probably be busier than other MTB destinations during August with the Italians enjoying their summer break).

If you can provide more detail on what you want from your holiday (self catering or catered? Guided? Group or individual?) then you'll be bombarded with great ideas in this tread.

Finale is great, I’ve been three times this year (The resort of Finale is busy in August but not the biking which is a bit quieter as there are lots of alternative bike park options) We actually stayed in Finalborgo which is a better option imho (and is quite beautiful).  There are lots of guided uplift options at 50 euros a day and the riding is superb.I would also consider Sauze Doux in Italy also, I rode there a few times this year and really enjoyed the trails. If you’re driving it’s on the way to Finale. You could also drop in at Alpe D’Huez, Les Deux Alps (my local) and a few of the smaller French parks on the way if you fancied a road trip

Morzine gets some stick but I'm a fan myself. Les Gets less so.

Alp d'Huez is also pretty good IMO. Les Deux Alpes less so.

Finale was pretty good but pricey, as you need a guide.

But for 2019 I'm going to Norway.

I've been to quite a few European MTB destinations and they've all been great, but the one that stands out above all the rest is finale ligure.

It's great, fantastic trails, great town, great weather, by the med, great food/drink.

Have a look at  http://Whiteroommtb.com . A mate and I spent a week with them this July. Great trails, great guiding, great food. Fully uplifted and being in the middle of the Tarentaise valley we got to ride several resorts; Les Arc, La Plagne, St. Foy, La Thuile and Tignes.

Been in touch with whiteroom so that could happen.

Who’s good to stay full board with in Morzine these days?

Stayed with RideMorzine when I was last there in 2015.

Reggiegasket -  We're just in the process of setting up a place if it interests you! Website should be up and running in the next week or two. 😀

Rascal - You could always head up here too if you want to get out into the wilds away from all the others. Not as much uplifted stuff as the alps and Finale but the landscapes are pretty impressive!
