You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Haven’t bought a dropper for a long time - and actually think both of my current ones were presents from p20. Anyway, need to swap to a 30.9 internal routed post for the new frame and was just going to be buy another reverb but somewhat shocked at the ~£350 price! Any recommendations of others to consider?
One up or brand x. Both great, nicer lever on the one up mind
A Brand X costs the same to buy as a Reverb service, a droppers not a "performance" item like suspension, it just goes up and down, buy a Brand X.
The other option that often comes up on here, if you want to spend a bit more and adjust the droppers travel is a OneUp Components dropper.
Brand X or One Up. Not worth spending more when they are so good.
Whilst the Brand X lever works, this is a worthy upgrade:
Having owned Reverb x2, KS LEV x2, FOX Transfer x3, Brand X x2, Specialized command x3
Ive found the FOX Transfer's to be the best of the bunch, Ive had no warranty issues with them unlike the rest
Most droppers are the same performance wise but my Brand X does feel a bit cheaper than other droppers
You can get FOX transfers for £160 if you shop around (that's what i paid for a FOX Transfer performance 30.9 internal routed from Winstanley's in March)
Also had a Marzocchi Transfer (same as a FOX Transfer performance) for £110 brand new
Pnw Ranier v3. Works beautifully, no slop and the loam lever is lovely. Not prone to clamp force oddities like one up either.
i just swopped out an xFusion Manic on my new bike to a Reverb AXS - a thing of wonder, if not value !
Brand X.
Just swapped out my Reverb for a OneUp rather than service it. It still worked, but the OneUp looked good value and I could get waaaaay more drop than I had. New bike comes with a OneUp post too so if one goes wrong I can sling the other on sharpish. Only had one proper ride on the OneUp but impressed so far, drops pretty smoothly, the lever is great and it pops back up at a nice pace. It perhaps doesn't feel as refined as a Reverb/Fox/Bikeyoke (when you drop it straight to the bottom its a pretty hard bottom out rather than kinda damped feeling?) but for the price it's hard to fault and seems easily serviceable at home.
Yeah my OneUp V2 has been flawless since getting it a year ago, can't recommend it enough.

unless it's a reverb? Then it tends top do whatever the weather suggests.
I've got fox, thomson and brand X (and a reverb in the spares bin)... the fox is crap it came brand new with more play than the brand X after 2 yrs (the thomson's have never developed play in 3 yrs but as they just go up and down really not worth it over brand-x) and the remote fell apart 2nd ride. Thomson and Fox both cost £100ish to service (which pisses me off since the Fox came new needing the play sorting but told £100 to fix it) ... quite keen on a one-up as a next replacement.
Thanks all. Will take a look at the above.
Have to admit my servicing costs are normally cooking p20 dinner 😉
