do something else for a bit or ride with new folks in new places, it always comes back in the end, but if you try to force it you'll just end up miffed off and grumpy
Take up XC racing.
It's just round and round a flat field, no mojo required.
have some time off or ride something totally different, like a bike with hybrid tyres so you can ride road and "light off road" or do a day tour with flask and sarnies from your door, change is as good as a rest, then build up to doing trails and stuff you used to gradually
MTQG you should try Scottish racing...
OP something else that inspires you.
Go for a nice walk with picnic, flask, binoculars, camera.
Some times it's good to have a break.

I'm planning to:
*sulk for the foreseable future
*carrying crashing every time I go out until I learn not to ride like a knob
*spend copious amounts of money I don't have on bike bling to numb the pain of not being able to ride even a tenth as well as I would like
*pedal around easy stuff pretending that getting fit and getting the miles in is a far better use of my time, and far better for my health (whilst knowing deep down this will only aggravate me even more)

As I remember it, at the only XC/marathon type race you've ever entered, you did more laps than me and won your class. I think I'd be the one doing the chasing.
Try listening to other peoples opinions of your riding instead of always trying to live up to your own expectations.
I thought it was quite funny on the Rangers thread when the question was "Can it be done ?" and the answer was Yes, it's been done by a grrrl on a hardtail. 😀
Seriously find a group of women who are better than you (might not be easy from the pictures I've seen of you riding) and ride with them. That will get you back up to speed.
The other serious suggestion is the exact opposite. Find some one who is nothing like as good as you (easier option IMO) and informally coach them.
I've found the informal coaching thing hugely rewarding and it gives you insights into your own riding that you don't get from other places because you have to really think about what it is you're doing on the bike.
How are those forks working out BTW? saw then in the Snowden Ranger Path thread. I'm heading up there in April and can't wait!
Do something else, there is a world outside of bikes. I've only ridden a couple of times in the last 3 months.
I went for a ride on my DH bike last weekend. After two runs I thought 'Eventually, my Mojo has returned!'
Third run I was enjoying my returned Mojo too much, stacked the bike over a double and seriously sprained my ankle.
I find it goes in circles. Mojo goes, ride like a girls blouse and crash. Mojo returns, ride well until over-confidence kicks in and crash. And back to the start.
I lost my riding mojo,didnt ride for a year,had 3 bikes sat in the Garage.It returned,Now out 2-3 time a week.
Have some fun,Relax,it will return
a change is as good as a rest and all that malarkey.. or try just going for a bimble.. if you feel like you're not trying hard enough or riding fast enough then try less... ride slower
Take a break and ride something different to usual is what I do. Didn't you get a bmx a while ago? Take that to a pump/race track 🙂
For me I turned to road bikes. Worked for me. So much so that I haven't been on a mountain bike for over 2 years now (only because I no longer own one 😳 ).
I can't get away from here though, it's good for a laugh.

I get that riding isn't compulsory, but the thing is, I'm not having to 'force' myself out on the bike. I likes riding!
I still want to ride a lot, and that's the most frustrating thing of all. That I know how/what I want to ride but just can't find the feeling when I am actually on the trails. I left the bike at home today and went digging, which is so much fun. Really rewarding stuff to dig trails, but it was still bugging to watch everyone else test ride and to not be riding myself.
I know my mojo will come back, it's disappeared for months on end and returned from that so it'll be fine. I was just wondering what other people did when theirs had gone walkabout.
keyses2 - yes, we really must meet up! Would be good to see some new stuff. I thought I knew every trail North of the Wyche, until I found yet more switchbacks the other day. Unbelievable how many trails we have hidden here. Unfortunately Fridays have been pretty much a no go for me with work atm.
MTQG - it's not about what other people think though, is it? It's about being happy with your own life and making the most of the skills that you have been given. I hate feeling like I have the skills but just can't pull it together!
geetee1972 - I tend to always ride with people who are far more skilled than I am and it does work to bring skills on, but only when riding is feeling good. If it's not going well, I just end up crashing all over the place trying to keep up. I'm off on a ladies day next saturday and it'll be the first time I have ever ridden with a group of just ladies. It's going to be very strange! The forksies are great btw - I'm loving them, although have only managed to get full travel a couple of times, despite nosing-in pretty much everything when on the HT. They feel best when running at warp speed otherwise there isn't a huge amount of sensitivity over rough stuff. Have fun in April - I'm sure you'll love it!

Oh, OK, I think I see where I misunderstood you.
I just saw the contradiction between you saying you've got no mojo, while others were using you as an example of good riding on Rangers.
There's a few sets of steps on my way to and from work.
Sometimes I have a good day and think "Yeah, I'll bump down the steps", sometimes I have a bad day and think "Whoa, that looks a bit scary, I'll go round".
It doesn't matter much to me one way or the other, I still get to where I'm going, steps or no steps, but I guess if riding steps and stuff is your thing, then it does matter if you get several bad days in a row.
Sorry if I still can't help with an answer, but at least I think I know what the question is now. 😛

I've raced XC on a 29er, therefore it must be flat with no bumps or corners.
Anyone will tell you 29ers don't do bumps and corners.
