As title - I need to shorten the hoses on two sets of brakes. One is Avids, the other set is Formulas.
Never done this before, and you can guess how much I'm looking forward to bleeding the things afterwards... 🙄 but thought I'd give it a go.
So - besides the syringes and fluid for the re-bleed, what else do I need for the actual shortening. And where do I start?
Sharp Stanley knife works for me. Make sure that you trim the end that does NOT have the non removeable fitting. On my Avids that is the caliper end, not the lever end. Measure twice, cut once. Loads of vids on You Tube.
Ah, didn't think of you tube.
I imagined needing various bits to reconnect the shortened end...?
Yes, you'll also need new olives and barbs(usually come with Avid bleed kits, don't think they do with Formula).
We've got a guide to Avid hose shortening. Hope it helps.
