One of these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mavic-sram-xx1-free-hub-body/rp-prod109737

(Assuming the XL doesn't have a different freehub fitting, wouldn't have thought so)

Expensive upgrade if you already have the 11 Speed XTR cassette though - the OneUp 45t makes some sense in your case.

Exactly that part ^^, I just did this today. Very easy to do, whip out free hub and pop the springs and pawls in the new one. But of light oil and back in.

Cheers the One up 45 looks interesting but they are sold out, I shall keep my eye out for some reviews, it still looks as though the XX1 has the weight advantage in any case.

So what he verdict on the ultimate 1X11 setup?

XX1 cassette
XTR mech & Shifters
XTR crank or XX1

(Slow reply as I've just got back from holiday)

I've got that set up with an XX1 crank. Not sure there is an "ultimate" set up though, as SRAM/Shimano is personal, and plenty of people are happy with the reduced range and increased weight of the XTR cassette because it costs less.

XTR cassette also lacks a couple of the bigger ratio jumps you get with Xx1

I'd have a Raceface Next SL direct mount crankset rather than SRAM or Shimano, too.
